Gene Christenson, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 69.
Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening, with the family present from 6 - 8 PM and with a prayer service at 6 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Gene Roger Christenson was born on January 6, 1936 in Chippewa Co., MN to Helmer and Olga (Golden) Christenson. He grew up in the Montevideo area and attended Montevideo Public Schools. On July 28, 1956 he was united in marriage to Lois Lynne at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. He worked on road construction and as an over the road truck driver and was a member of the Christian Labor Association Union. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to auctions, collecting cookie jars, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; 2 children: Greg Christenson of Willmar, MN and Pam Schultz and her husband Charlie of Montevideo; 7 grandchildren: Chad, Miranda, Matt and Andy Schultz, and Wade, Kaylee and Chase Christenson; 2 brothers: Delaine Christenson and his wife Diane of Minneapolis, MN and Harlen Christenson of Montevideo; a sister, Carolyn Norwood and her husband Robert of Cooperstown, ND as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Mary Ann Christenson and by his father- in-law and mother-in-law.
