Dr. Gene Lauritsen, formerly of Montevideo, died on Monday, February 5, 2001 in Carrollton, TX at the age of 58.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 10, 2001 at 1:30 P.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo, MN with Rev. Wayne D. Kopitzke officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Eugene Jeffrey Lauritsen was born March 10, 1942 at Montevideo, MN the son of Fred and Hazel (Solberg) Lauritsen. He was active in 4-H as a youth. Gene graduated from Montevideo High School in 1960 and later from the St. Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota in 1971 as a Veterinarian. He spent many years in New Orleans where he set up a successful veterinary practice. He enjoyed traveling and was very active in the community and at Love Lutheran Church.
He is survived by two sons: Eric Lauritsen and Brian Lauritsen both of New Orleans, LA; three brothers: Dr. Frederick (Catherine) Lauritsen of Cheney, WA, L.S. "Corky" (Bev) Lauritsen of Maynard, MN and Sheldon (Yolanda) Lauritsen of Dallas, TX; one sister, Melinda Gort of Montevideo, MN; eight nephews; two nieces; and several cousins, aunts, and an uncle.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Gary Lauritsen; and a sister, Priscilla Lauritsen, both in infancy.
