Genora Otterholt, of Montevideo, died on Saturday May 7 at the Appleton Nursing Home at the age of 98. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday May 11 at 1:30 P.M. at Big Bend Lutheran Church with Rev. Kathryn Rothman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the church. Anderson funeral home of Montevideo is in charge of the funeral services.
Genora Olive (Kalstrom) Otterholt was born on November 16, 1895 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa Co., Minnesota to Jens and Synnova Kalstrom. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Watson,Mn. on December 22, 1895 by Rev. E.O. Solseth and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church on May 22, 1910 by Rev. Wein. She attended rural schools and Milan High School. On January 21, 1917 she was united in marriage to Emil Otterholt at Big Bend Lutheran by Rev. Berge. They lived and farmed in Big Bend Township until retiring and moving into Montevideo in 1966. She became a resident of the Appleton Nursing Home in 1991. She was a member of Big Bend Lutheran Church and was active in it's Ladies Aid.
Genora is survived by a son - Leland (Carol) Otterholt of Montevideo; by a granddaughter - Susan (Robert) Kempe of Hopkins,Mn.; by a grandson - Daniel (Joan) Otterholt of Casper, Wy.; by great grandchildren - Matthew and Martin Kempe, and Anna and Amy Otterholt; by sisters - Margaret and Charlotte Kalstrom of Appleton,Mn. and by a sister-in-law - Olive Kalstrom of Montevideo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Emil in 1973; by brothers - Walter and Oscar Kalstrom; and by a sister - Clarice Kalstrom.
