George W. Carpenter

George Carpenter, formerly of Maynard, died on July 5, 1996 at the Minnesota Masonic Home Care Center in Bloomington, MN at the age of 85.

Memorial services will be conducted on Monday July 8, 1996 at 11:00 A.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Roger Schwartze officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be with the family immediately prior to the services.

George W. Carpenter was born on February 27, 1911 in Leenthrop Township of Chippewa Co., MN to William and Bertha (Holland) Carpenter.  He  attended Maynard Schools and the Morris Agricultural School. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Gorman on July 20, 1935 in Montevideo, MN. He moved to Minneapolis and eventually pursued a career in real estate - developing property in Bloomington as owner of Bloomington Realty Co.  He was an active member of the Masonic Shrine in Bloomington and Minneapolis.

He is survived by his wife - Phyllis of Minneapolis; a son - Douglas and his wife Patricia of Naples, FL; grandchildren - Janet Carpenter of Santa Monica, CA and Robert Carpenter of Orlando, FL; and a sister - Ermal Rademacher of Parkers Prairie, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by sisters - Lela Mellgren and Elsie Weberg and by brothers - Owen and Wayne Carpenter.
