George Sandoz, of Milan, died on Thursday, February 14, 2002 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 79. Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, February 23, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Wayne Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Kviteseid Lutheran Milan Methodist Cemetery.
George Ami Sandoz was born on August 27, 1922 in Sioux County, Nebraska to George and Helen (Hughes) Sandoz. The family lived in a sod house and operated a sheep ranch. In 1933 the family moved to Gordon, Nebraska, where Gordon graduated from Gordon High School in 1939. He attended Kemper Military School in Boonsville, Missouri and then enrolled at the University of Nebraska. His education was interrupted by World War II as he was called into action. He was in the Quartermaster Corps and was stationed in Guam and Hawaii. After the war he returned to and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Business Administration. While he was in college, the family moved to Milan, MN in 1946. He has lived in Milan since his college graduation.
He is survived by one brother, Jules Sandoz of Henderson, NV; three sisters: Rosalie Henken of Flushing, NY, Emilia Larson of Bellevue, WA and Frances Kittelson of Maple Valley, WA; four nephews, one niece and a grandniece.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
