Funeral service was at 10:30AM, Saturday, July 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd with Pastors Martha Hanson and Lori Wold officiating; and organist, Mavis Hutt accompanied the singing of "How Great Thou Art", "Rock of Ages" and "Amazing Grace." Honorary casketbearers were his grandsons and the active casketbearers were Glen Jorgenson, Howard Jorgenson, Marvin Piipke, Milo Reed, Lawrence Schmieg, Bruce Strand, Lee Strand and Paul Strand. Burial was in St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery in rural Boyd. Gerald Luverne Fremo was born September 21, 1936, at Clarkfield, MN, the son of Albin and Lillie (Philipson) Fremo. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church and attended rural school in District #59. Gerald received his GED in the mid 1950's and served in the Minnesota National Guard from 1959 to1965. He was united in marriage with Bernice Sandbakken on March 2, 1963, at Dawson, MN. They lived and farmed near Boyd and from 1967 to 1977, Gerald worked at AMPI in Clarkfield. He was a member of Halling Lag of America and enjoyed old tractors, farm equipment, and going to threshing shows. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had served as a Trustee and Deacon. Gerald died on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 17 days. He is survived by his wife, Bernice; son, Brian (and Rebecca) Fremo of St. Peter, MN; daughter, Kathryn Fremo of Boyd; three grandsons: Winston and Ellet Taylor and Cyrus Fremo; two brothers: Roger (and Shirley) Fremo of Moorhead, MN, and David (and Anne) Fremo of Centerville, WA; two sisters-in-law: Lorraine Folkestad of Montevideo and Aggie (and Stanford) Storlien of Dawson; and nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister in infancy; and brother-in-law, Gordon Folkestad.
