Gerald Kvaal passed away peacefully at his home in Madison, MN, on Wednesday, April 1, after a courageous battle with cancer. He had reached the age of 72 years, 4 months and 28 days.
A private family memorial service will be held on May 9th, 2020.
Gerald Eugene Kvaal was born on November 4, 1947, in Dawson, MN, to parents Ingvald and Grace (Thompson) Kvaal. He was baptized at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. He attended country school and graduated from Dawson High School in 1965. On January 15, 1966, he was united in marriage to DeAnn Schendel, in Benson, MN. To this union, three children were born.
Jerry farmed and worked at Dawson Mills in the 1970’s. In 1985, he began driving semi over the road, and continued in that profession until he retired as a dispatcher in 2010. On November 21, 1992, he was united in marriage to Candice (Femrite) Kelley. Candice passed away on June 8, 2006. In 2010, he moved to Madison, MN.
Jerry liked going to the races, riding motorcycle, fishing and visiting. For the past 10 years, he and Carol enjoyed traveling in their motor home and spending winters in Texas.
Jerry is survived by significant other Carol Cottle of Madison; children: David (Michelle) of Minot, ND; Jon (Kristi) of Dawson; Lori (David) of Maple Grove, MN; and their mother DeAnn Faust of Dawson; eight grandchildren: Emily (Shane) Harriman, Tanielle (Shae) Crusch, Shelby Kvaal, Dan (Kristin) Kvaal, Cindy, Kelly and Mike Kvaal and Ryan Kvaal; eight great-grandchildren with one on the way; brother Al Kvaal of St. Paul and sister Brenda Johnson-Love of Dillon, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Candice, and two great-granddaughters.
