Gerald Munsen, of Montevideo, died Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, MN at the age of 96.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Rev. Darrell Friar will officiate and interment will be at Leenthrop Memorial Cemetery near Maynard, MN. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Friday.
Gerald Alfred Munsen was born on February 29, 1920 in Leenthrop Township of Chippewa County, MN to Alfred and Hilder (Bowman) Munsen. He was raised on his family farm in Leenthrop Township and attended country schools. He went to school in Montevideo for a year then graduated from Maynard High School. Gerald learned to farm at a very young age and continued to farm his entire life. On March 29, 1947, Gerald was united in marriage to Carol Strickler and together they were blessed with three children. On July 29, 1994, Carol passed away at the age of 72.
Gerald loved to travel; especially to Montana and in the mountains. On September 18, 2002, Gerald was united in marriage to Beulah Roeske in Miles City, MT. Together, they traveled from Minnesota to Montana every year to see the mountains and the scenery.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Beulah of Granite Falls; a son, Roger (Eileen) of Montevideo; two daughters: JoAnn (Rev. Steve) Carter of Red Rock, AZ and Gayle (Lowell) Bliss of Montevideo; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Carol; a grandson, Duane Munsen in 1989; and a sister, Ardell (Maurice) Gustafson.
