Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Geraldine Neomi (Hodge) Aamot was born on December 17, 1926 in Montevideo, MN to William and Stella (Schultz) Hodge. She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1944. On June 8, 1947 she was united in marriage to Phillip Aamot at the Methodist Church in Montevideo. After living in Minneapolis for a short time, they moved to the family farm near Watson, where they farmed for many years. Gerry also worked at MTI for over twenty years before retiring. They moved to Brookside Manor in Montevideo in 2011 and this past July had moved to the Clara City Care Center. She was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent. When Zion closed, she became a member of Watson Lutheran Church and was active in the women’s groups of both congregations. She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, watching and feeding birds - especially hummingbirds and orioles, and her cat. Her days were not complete until she had read the newspaper and done the crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip; children: Mike (and Barb) Aamot of Red Wing, MN; Gayle (and Jon) Blom of Lakeville, MN; and Jim (and Lynette) Aamot of Montevideo; grandchildren: Wendy Thurber, Kellie Tadych, Eric Blom, Jill Gregory, Matt Aamot, Nikky Aamot, Hope Walburn and Amanda Meixelsperger; and a brother, Weldon Hodge and his wife Deanna of Watson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Steven.
