Geraldine Henstein, of Montevideo, died Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Brookside Manor in Montevideo at the age of 87.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald McKee officiating. Visitation will be held at Our Savior’s one hour prior to services. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.
Geraldine Marie (Sundem) Henstein was born on May 22, 1930 in Montevideo to Ben and Myrtle (Kaster) Sundem. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Geri graduated from Montevideo High School in 1948. On June 27, 1948 she was united in marriage to Harold Henstein at Our Savior’s. They had six children: Mark, Scott, Leslie, Ben, Sue, and Will. Geri held many jobs throughout her life. She worked at various theaters, drug stores, and factories. She also worked as a teacher’s assistant for Montevideo High School.
Geri was a member of Our Savior’s and taught Sunday school. She also kept herself busy in the circle, choir, and Altar Guild. Geri enjoyed knitting, sewing, going to the lake, playing cards and baking.
She is survived by her children: Mark (Gail) of Woodbury, MN, Scott of St. Louis Park, MN, Leslie (Heidi) of Eden Prairie, MN, Ben (Sandy) of Frankfort, IL, Sue of Clearwater, MN and Will (Tasha) of Gilbert, AZ; 14 grandchildren: Collee, Bjorn, Stephanie, Paul, Andrew, Olivia, Rebecca, Caleb, Jacob, Zachary, Tommy, Griffin, Aaron, and Evan; and 6 great-grandchildren: Cullen, Addilyn, Vera, Tyler, Anna, and Piper.
She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; husband, Harold in 2005; grandson, Joshua Adam Henstein; brother, Weldon in 2005; and her niece, Julie Tweet.
