Gerhard Paulson, 98, of Appleton, died August 11, 1994 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 13, at 1:00 P.M. at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Rev. Kathryn Rothman will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before services on Saturday.
Gerhard Jacob Olaus Paulson was born February 8, 1896 in Chippewa County, MN the son of Ole and Anna (Golden) Paulson. He was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church and continued to be a lifelong member. Gerhard was united in marriage with Lillie Birdie Skjei March 25, 1922 at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church. They farmed in Chippewa County. They marked their 57th wedding anniversary in 1979 and Lillie died May 21, 1979. Born to this union was one daughter, Grace Lucille. She helped Gerhard fulfil his wish of staying at home by caring for him until the need for hospitalization before his death.
He is survived by his daughter, Grace Steffenson and her husband Arthur of Appleton, MN; two granddaughters: Arlyce Dolven and her husband Terry of Montevideo, MN and Julie Boettcher and her husband Gary of Montevideo, MN; four great-grandchildren: Shawn, Keith, Matthew, and Jennifer; and one sister, Lillian Evanskaas of Madison, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Lillie; two brothers; and five sisters.
