Gertrude Eide, formerly of rural Milan, died on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the Clara City Care Center at the age of 89. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Cathie Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5:30 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Gertrude Eldora (Golden) Eide was born on September 16, 1922 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa County, MN to Elmer and Agnes (Allickson) Golden. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson and attended rural schools. On September 9, 1945, she was united in marriage to Iver Eide at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They lived in Montevideo for several years before moving to Starbuck for seven years. They returned to the rural Watson and Milan area for a few years before moving to her family farm and becoming the fourth generation to live there. She moved off the farm in 2004 and lived for several years at Brookside Manor and Home Front in Montevideo before moving to the Clara City Care Center in 2010. She was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson and has been a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan for many years, where she was active in its women's groups. She was an active member of the DAV Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, the Watson Senior Center and the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed painting, baking, fishing, watching and feeding birds, her Norwegian heritage, playing guitar and keyboard organ and had a special love for her dogs. She is survived by children: Diane (and Gary) Dewing of Oklahoma City, OK, Ron (and Sharon) Eide of Appleton, MN, Linda Eide of Big Lake, MN and Kathy (and Ron) Augeson of Montevideo, MN; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Iver in 1994; and by a sister, Florence Kulbeck.
