Gertrude Larson, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 82. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. at the Watson Lutheran Church in Watson with Rev. Robert Knutson officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Gertrude Sophie (Oddan) Larson was born on December 14, 1928 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa County, MN to Hans and Ingeborg (Farden) Oddan. She was baptized at Big Bend Lutheran Church, confirmed in Elbow Lake, MN and attended Milan Public Schools. On September 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to J. Vernon Larson at the Big Bend Parsonage. They farmed in Big Bend Township for four years before moving to a farm in Kragero Township in 1950. She also worked for several years at Control Data in Montevideo and at the Watson Post Office. She has been a resident at the Luther Haven Nursing Home since 2008. She had been a member of Big Bend Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church, and was currently a member of Watson Lutheran Church. She had also been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed to fish, fish and fish, cook, quilt, gardening, making wedding cakes, crocheting, canning and tractor driving. She is survived by a son, Demore Larson and his wife Connie of Appleton, MN; a granddaughter, Sara Rupert and her husband Peter of St. Paul, MN; two great-grandchildren: Andrew and John Rupert; a number of nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Oddan of Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. Vernon in 2008; a daughter, Laurie Jean in infancy; and siblings: Rose Larson, Juella Oddan, Junice Anderson, Orrin Oddan, Lois Gustafson and Sylvia Oddan.
