Gilbert Jacob John Burg

Gilbert Burg, of Montevideo, died on July 8, 1987 in Montevideo, MN at the age of 84.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, July 11, 1987 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Peterson officiating. Interment was in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.

Gilbert Jacob John Burg was born on March 24, 1903 in Breckenridge, MN to Joseph and Louise (Hertzog) Burg. He grew up in Chilloton, WI and moved to Montevideo, MN in 1926. On December 7, 1929 he was united in marriage to Mabel Lynne in St. Paul, MN.  He lived the rest of his lifetime in the Montevideo area.   He was employed for many years as an auto mechanic prior to his retirement. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel; by four sons: Donald Burg of Sioux Falls, SD, Eugene Burg of Anderson, IN, W. Gale Burg of Dawson, MN, and Gerald Burg of Rosemount, MN; five daughters: Mavis Schwan of Minneapolis, MN and Phoenix, AZ; Carole Halverson of Marshall, MN,  Kathleen Workman of Sioux Falls, SD, Bonnie Hill of Albany, MN, and Rebecca Hilfers of Worthington, MN; 21 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Robert Burg of Minneapolis, MN; Lewis Burg of Alexandria, MN and Oliver Burg of Long Prairie, MN; a sister, Margie Plaman of Minneapolis, MN as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Nita Buckly; and by an infant brother.
