Gilbert Seeman, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 91. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Ronald Hobbie officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 - 7 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Gilbert Rudolph Seeman was born on May 1, 1921 in Havelock Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Carl and Mathilda (Lettau) Seeman. He was baptized on May 29, 1921 and confirmed on March 25, 1934, both at Trinity Lutheran Church of Havelock. He attended rural schools. On January 12, 1943 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Sulflow at Trinity Lutheran Church of Havelock. He farmed in rural Montevideo and Clarkfield before moving into Clarkfield in 1966 and to Montevideo in 1970. He began working at the Milk Drying Plant in Clarkfield in 1963 and in 1970 began working at Anderson Tire Service, which later became Brandon Tire. He retired from Brandon Tire in 1988. He spent 19 years as the custodian at St. Paul Lutheran Church where he was a long-time member and was a preschool grandfather.
He is survived by a son, David of Montevideo and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Eleanor in 1997; an infant son, a brother, Harold and an infant sister, Leona.
