Gladyce Larson, of Montevideo, died on Friday, December 15, 2000 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 83.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 19, 2000 at 1: 30 PM at Jevnaker Lutheran Church with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services at the church.
Gladyce Julia Lynne was born on April 12, 1917 in Mandt Township of Chippewa County, MN to Gulbrand and Clara (Pederson) Lynne. She was baptized on May 13, 1917 and confirmed in 1931, both at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. She attended rural schools at District 88. On December 31, 1941 she was united in marriage to Axel Larson. They lived in Mandt Township until moving into Montevideo in 1979. She was a foster care mother for many years, caring for 17 foster children as well as 4 boys from South America and one from Thailand during the summer months as exchange students. She did home health care and worked for the MN Green Thumb and Private Industry Council, retiring in 1994. She was a lifelong member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church, was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by her daughter, Vangie Parker and her husband Donn of Minneapolis, MN; one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Lynne of Montevideo; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Axel in 1994; three sisters: Martha Saue, Ida Saue and Mabel Burg; and two brothers: Clifford Lynne and Palmer Lynne.
