Gladys Andreas, of Montevideo, died on Friday, April 7, 2000 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 88.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 15, 2000 at 1:30 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson, MN with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Gladys Caroline (Jerve) Andreas was born on January 29, 1912 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Ole and Laura (Laumb) Jerve. She was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and attended rural schools in District #11 in Big Bend Township. On July 30, 1939 she was united in marriage to Elmo Andreas at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. They lived north of Watson for 3 years, in Swift Co. for 3 years and moved west of Watson, where they lived until moving to her home farm in 1948. In 1976 they moved into Montevideo. She has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past 5 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its women’s groups and helped raise a number of foster children. She was known for her cooking and baking, especially her cinnamon rolls, lefse and flatbread.
She is survived by her husband - Elmo; by daughters - Judy Anderson and her husband Arthur of Minneapolis, MN; Joyce Sundrum and her husband Silvian of Golden Valley, MN and Bonalyn Nebelung and her husband Gordon of Fridley, MN; grandchildren - Brent (Karen) Anderson; Jill (John) Weir; Marc Anderson; David Sundrum; Susan (Jeremy) Towle; Christopher Nebelung, Jonathan Nebelung and Sara Nebelung; great grandchildren - Luke Elmo Anderson; Abigail Anderson; William Weir, Emma Weir, Grace Weir, and Ariana Towle; by a foster daughter - Jane Campbell and her children - Brett, Kelly & Kristina of Minneapolis, MN; by a sister - Edna Hull of Montevideo; by brothers - Marvin Jerve of Montevideo; Sander Jerve of Glencoe, MN; and Gordon Jerve of Battle Lake, MN as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a great granddaughter - Jada Ruth Towle; brothers - Clarence, Orville and Arlo Jerve and by sisters - Avis Gallagher and Lucille Lomason.
