Gladys Bergo, 92, of Montevideo, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 5, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo.  The celebrant will be Fr. Jim Devorak and burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.

Visitation will be held for one hour before the services at the church on Saturday.

Gladys Marie (Bogan) Bergo was born May 29, 1908 at Marcus, IA the daughter of Edward and Mary (Collins) Bogan.  She was baptized and confirmed in Marcus, IA.  Gladys moved with her family to Montevideo, MN in 1915.  After her mother’s death in 1925, Gladys helped raise her younger siblings. Gladys was married to Henry Bergo November 25, 1926 in Minneapolis, MN.  Henry and Gladys lived on a farm north of Montevideo where they raised her siblings along with their own family.  Gladys was a wall paper and painting specialist in the Montevideo area for many years.  After retiring from farming in the mid 1970's, they moved into Montevideo.  Henry died March 24, 1986.  She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Homemakers Club.  Gladys enjoyed  crocheting and fishing and had a great love for life.

She is survived by two daughters: Loretta Tobias and her husband Mitchell of Montevideo, MN and Sheryl Serdahl of Post Falls, ID; six grandchildren: Alan (Jean) Bergo, Cary (Nancy) Bergo, Scott (Marlo) Serdahl, Michelle (Michiel) Bell, John Tobias, and Sandra (Daniel) Tobias-Kotyk; eleven great-grandchildren: Shannon, Kelly, Justin, Ashley, Hayley, Colton, Nicole, Christopher, Mikaela, Aubrey, and Zelda; one great-great-grandson, Reece; and two sisters: Edith (Bernard) Berres of Brooklyn Park, MN and Bernice (Vern) Miller of Dawson, MN.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Henry; one son, LeRoy Bergo; one daughter-in-law, Phyllis Bergo; one son-in-law, Clifton Serdahl; one sister, Lorraine Grams; and three brothers: Gerald and Edward Bogan and Lloyd Bogan in infancy.
