Gladys Lucille Erickson was born in Dawson on October 17, 1915, to Ole and Hannah (Malle) Jacobson. She was baptized on December 5, 1915, and confirmed on May 19, 1929, at Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson.. She attended Dawson Public Schools and graduated in 1933.
Gladys and Ernest B. Erickson were united in marriage on May 24, 1935, in Watertown, SD. To this union Ronald E. and Jacquelyn K. were born. Dawson was their home except for three years in Willmar. Ernie died suddenly on June 22, 1970. Gladys lived in her home until she entered the Johnson Memorial Home on December 28, 1999. She remained there until her death on Monday, March 13, 2000, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 26 days.
She is survived by her children: Ron (Liz) Erickson of Dawson and Jacquelyn Erickson of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren: Michael (Karla) Erickson of Dawson and Teresa Erickson of Seattle, WA; great-grandchildren: Spencer and Savannah Erickson of Dawson; several nieces and nephews, other family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernie; brothers: Edwin (Bud), Rueben, and Virgil Jacobson; and sister, Juliet (Judy) Day.
Gladys was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was Bible school teacher and helped with funerals by baking many cakes. She also volunteered for the Blood Bank. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cards, yahtze, making cookies and coffee, and entertaining friends.
