Gladys Noard, of Montevideo, died on Monday, March 29, 2010 at her home under the care of Hospice at the age of 89. Memorial Services will be conducted on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Ann Ward officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo is in charge of services. Gladys Clarissa (Hemsing) Noard was born on June 24, 1920 to Christ and Genevieve (Rassmussen) Hemsing at the family home in Maynard, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Maynard Lutheran Church and attended Maynard Public Schools. On July 30, 1938 she was united in marriage to Leon "Red" Noard. They lived in Montevideo until 1977 when they moved to Lake Amelia. Red died in 1987 and Gladys remained at their lake home until her health forced her to move to Montevideo in 1997. Gladys worked at Hemstad's Greenhouse for many years and excelled in designing bouquets and corsages, primarily for weddings. She loved cooking, hunting, fishing and working in the outdoors doing lawn care and flower and vegetable gardening. Gladys was a good neighbor and a loving friend to all who knew her. Gladys is survived by two daughters: Virginia Peterson of Boyd, MN and Judith (and Arden) Bendix of Echo, MN; five grandchildren: Bobby Eschen of St. Cloud, MN, Beverly (and Rick) Reynolds of Albert Lea, MN, Jolene (and Josh) Schwietering of Elk River, MN, James Bendix of Echo, MN, Janet (Jonathon) Prowatzke of Annandale, MN; four great-grandchildren: Bailey, Brandon and Brady Prowatzke and Chloe Schwietering; a sister, Mildred Laraby of Battle Lake, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon in 1987; a son-in-law, Dennis Peterson; and three brothers: Alfred, Nels and Clarence Hemsing.
