Glenda Dvergsten, of Watson, died on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 95. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Watson Lutheran Church in Watson with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 6:45 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Glenda Hilma (Quenemoen) Dvergsten was born on October 24, 1914 in Cerro Gordo Township of Lac qui Parle Co., MN to Oscar and Julia (Krugerud) Quenemoen. She was baptized on November 29, 1915 and confirmed on November 25, 1928 at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church. She attended rural schools. On November 16, 1935 she was united in marriage to Julian Dvergsten. Glenda lived in the Dawson, Montevideo and Watson areas and has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo for nearly four years. She was a long time member of the Watson Lutheran Church and was active in Ladies Aid and Altar Guild. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed gardening, crocheting afghans for her family, playing cards, putting puzzles together and making " a little lunch". She is survived by seven children: Janice Mitlyng of Montevideo; Gale (and Marj) Dvergsten of Duluth, MN; Dianne Oftedahl of Montevideo; Daryl (and Dianne) Dvergsten of Montevideo; Lee (and Leita) Dvergsten of Procter, MN; Cheryl (and Scott) Monson of Montevideo; and Gary (and Anita) Dvergsten of San Diego, CA; a step-son, Denneth (and Joan) Dvergsten of Grand Rapids, MN; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; a sister, Delaine Lundy of Dawson, MN; two sons-in-law, Roger Norby of Benson, MN and Jerry Hammer of Cedar Falls, IA; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Julian in 1963; two daughters, Shirley Norby and Anita Hammer; a stepson, Russell Dvergsten; a grandchild, John Dvergsten; a great grandchild, Mark Lavern Rongstad; two sons-in-law, Jay Mitlyng and Mark Rongstad; five brothers: Lester, Omar, Russell, Martin and Henry Quenemoen and by four sisters: Josie Lindquist, Juerella Johnson, Rhoda Velleckson and Mabel Gruchow.
