Glenn Brabender, 57, of Montevideo died February 20, 2000 at his home, rural Montevideo.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 25, 2000 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Larry Olson will officiate and interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Montevideo.
Visitation will be held Thursday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5-8:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.
Glenn Curtis Brabender was born on March 16, 1942 in Montevideo, MN to Donald and Pearl (Cole) Brabender. He was baptized in Montevideo by Rev. Mason and confirmed at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls, MN. He attended Wood Lake High School and graduated in 1960. In 1961 he moved to Big Bend Township in Chippewa County with his parents and lived and farmed there since. On July 12, 1980 he was united in marriage to Anna Schmitz at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran and was the assistant head usher for many years. He was very interested in sports, was the official score-keeper for basketball in Milan for 21 years, enjoyed football and baseball and going to the races every weekend. He loved to travel, especially quiet times listening to waves crashing on shoreline and fall colors and loved to visit with friends. During his period of illness, an especially important time was that spent with his cancer support group on Thursday afternoons.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; one step-daughter, Cherish Cartie and her husband Hilary of Montevideo; two grandchildren: Kassondra and Dante Cartie; his mother, Pearl Brabender of Montevideo; two brothers: Lyle Brabender and his wife Cheryl of Montevideo and Wayne Brabender of Simancos, Spain; one sister, Marilynn Augeson and her husband Darrell of Montevideo; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
