Glenn Eugene Heitkamp

Glenn Heitkamp died Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 84.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo.  Rev. Paul Woolverton will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5-7:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 6:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Glenn Eugene Heitkamp was born August 12, 1919 in Leenthrop Township, Chippewa County, MN the son of John and Dora (Weim) Heitkamp.  He was baptized and confirmed at Rosewood Methodist Church, rural Montevideo.  Glenn attended school in District 27.  He was united in marriage with Bernetta Husby on August 29, 1943 at Black Oak Lake Lutheran Church near Montevideo.  They spent their entire life on the farm east of Montevideo.  Glenn also worked for the R.E.C. for about a year and also worked cutting ice and putting it up during the early spring for use during the summer months.  He was active in the United Methodist Church, where he had served on various boards.  He enjoyed fishing, camping at the lake, reading, doing puzzles, wood working, and above all his family and friends.  He also served on the District 27 school board, the Gluek elevator board, the Co-op Credit Union Board,  was also the Leenthrop Township assessor for many years and was a member of the Odd fellows Lodge for over 55 years.

He is survived by his wife, Bernetta; two sons: James Heitkamp and his wife Diane of Kasson, MN and Richard Heitkamp and his wife Diana of Annandale, MN; five grandchildren: Fred (Tammy) Heitkamp, Alicia (Heath) Gillham, Rhonda (Ross) Orsten, Robyn (Jeff) Warner, and Kim Floren; seven great-grandchildren: Hunter Mutterer, Emily Heitkamp, Miranda Floren, Brian Warner, Jordan Warner, George Orsten, and Darren Orsten; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Earl Heitkamp; and two sisters: Ruth Moeller and Helen Heitkamp.
