Gloria Viola (Zempel) Hoff

Gloria Hoff, age 71, of rural Montevideo, and her husband Olpher died on Monday, August 11, 1997 as a result of an automobile accident near Montevideo.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, August 15, 1997 at 1:30 P.M. at the Watson Lutheran Church in Watson with Rev. Harold Knutson officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

Gloria Viola Hoff was born on August 24, 1925 in Lac Qui Parle Co., MN  to Louis and Bertha (Kling) Zempel.  She was baptized and confirmed as a Lutheran and attended rural schools.

Olpher and Gloria were united in marriage  on October 7, 1952 in Watertown, SD.  Following a short time in Milan and in Lac Qui Parle Co., they moved to a farm in Chippewa Co. near Watson, MN, where they farmed.  Gloria also worked as a waitress for many years at the Hiway  and Mohawk Cafes, as well as doing house cleaning.  They were members of Watson Lutheran Church.  He was a member of the VFW and American Legion and she was a member of the Watson Lutheran Church Women's groups.

She is survived by a daughter Jean Quigley and her husband Phillip of Montevideo; by a son -Wayne Hoff and his wife Jonell of Montevideo; and grandchildren - Dean, Bryan and Justin Quigley of Montevideo.

Gloria is survived by brothers - Palmer Zempel of Montevideo and Robert Zempel and his special friend Jean Kelm of Montevideo; sisters - Florine Norby and her husband Harold; Bernice Goulson and her husband Melvin  and Dorothy Adamson, all of Montevideo.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers - Francis and Kenneth Zempel; by a sister - Grace Anderson and by her husband Truman; by a brother-in-law - Kenneth Adamson and by a great grandson - Phillip Michael Quigley.
