Gloria Johnson, of Montevideo, died Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 90.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Jeff Fitzkappes officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 4-6 PM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church
Gloria Mavis (Bremseth) Johnson was born on April 29, 1927 to Richard and Alma (Pederson) Bremseth in Hantho Township, Lac qui Parle County. She was baptized and confirmed at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church southwest of Appleton, MN. Gloria attended school at Hantho Consolidated Country School and Appleton High School. After her schooling, Gloria lived in Woodbury in Florida. On November 23, 1947 she was united in marriage to Joel Johnson in Madison at their Pastor’s home. They moved out to the farm in 1956, and lived there until moving to the edge of Montevideo in 1976. She was a Sunday school teacher and part of the women’s group. Gloria was an avid bowler and bird watcher. She also enjoyed music, swimming, flowers, playing baseball, and watching beautiful sunsets.
Gloria is survived by her two sons: Brad (Leonore) Johnson of Montevideo, MN and Gary (Tami) Johnson of Montevideo, MN; brother, Willis Bremseth of Glenwood, MN; sister-in-law, Barb Bremseth; five grandchildren: Melissa (Shea) Alexander, Michael (Eunice) Johnson, Matthew (Jenna) Johnson, Joshua Johnson, and Yanik Johnson; and 15 great-grandchildren: Natalie, Kenzi, Isaac, Caleb, Oliver, Austin, Kaitlyn, Madelyn, Owen, Tanner, Damien, Shayli, Parker, Izzy, and Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joel (1984) , her parents, three brothers: Loren, Richard, and Roger Bremseth; sister, Ardyce Albrecht, and close friend, Bob Jacobson.
