Gordon Earl Bright passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 92.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Donald S. McKee will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7 from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before the service.
Gordon Earl Bright was born January 31, 1924 in Rosewood Township, Chippewa County, he was the only child born to Earl and Olga (Iverson) Bright. He was a lifelong member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, baptized July 10, 1924 and confirmed April 25, 1937. He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1942 and married Gloria Helen Schrapp on April 22, 1944.
Gordy was employed by the Ford Dealership in Montevideo for many years where he worked as an auto mechanic. After a few years in the used car business, he returned to mechanic work as a diesel mechanic for Mooney’s Inc. out of Granite Falls and Duininck Inc. out of Prinsburg.
Gordy liked all kinds of sports, loved to fish, and was known in the family as an all around handyman. He could figure out how to make anything work again or put anything back together. He was a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Gloria, whom he tirelessly cared for prior to her passing on December 23, 2011.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and is survived by three children: Bob (Bonnie) Bright of Mankato, MN, Rick (May) Bright of Huntsville, AL, and Kim Olsen of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gloria; and his son-in-law, Brad Olsen.
