Grace (Vanburen) Bolt

Grace Bolt, of Montevideo, died on Friday, August 12, 2005 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 96.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo.  Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening, with the family present from 6 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 7 PM, all at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Grace (VanBuren) Bolt was born on April 11, 1909 in Roseland Twp of Kandiyohi, Co., MN to William and Nancy (Dykema) VanBuren.  She grew up in the Raymond, MN area and graduated from Raymond High School in 1927.  She attended St. Cloud Teachers College and taught for a year in the Raymond area before being united in marriage to Arthur Bolt in June of 1929. They operated Bolt’s Grocery in Montevideo from 1930 until 1952.  In 1952 they moved to Benson, MN, and built and operated the Arthur Motel before retiring to Montevideo in 1974. She has been a resident of Brookside Manor for several years and had just become a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Montevideo and was active in circle.  She enjoyed playing bridge with friends, gardening, canning, had a keen mind for business  and was an accomplished computer person in her later years.

She is survived by 4 children: Norman Bolt and his wife Sandy of Wadena, MN, Harold Bolt and his wife Norma of Reno, NV, Ralph Bolt and his wife Bonnie of Normal, IL and Evelyn Foggy and her husband Dennis of Tallahassee, FL; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and her extended family, Roger & Hilde Lund and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur and a son Donald, both in 1995 and by a sister, Alice Gundershaug.
