Grace Sulflow, of Montevideo, died May 3, 1999 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 88.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, 1999 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Richard Hamlow will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and with the family present from 6-9:00 P.M.
Grace Elizabeth (Schroeder) Sulflow was born January 7, 1911 in Chippewa County, MN the daughter of John and Bina (Dirksen) Schroeder. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City and she attended country school near Clara City. She was united in marriage with Ervin Sulflow February 7, 1934 in the parsonage of Bethany Reformed Church. They lived and farmed in Grace and Havelock Townships for 43 years and raised their four children there. In 1981, they moved into Montevideo. After Ervin’s death in 1993, she moved to Prairie Park Place in Clara City in 1994 and in May of 1997 to the Clarkfield Care Center. Grace was involved at Trinity Lutheran Church of Havelock with the Ladies Aid and Bible Study. She loved doing crafts, making quilts, crocheting, sewing, flower gardening, and baking. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed family gatherings, neighbors, and friends.
She is survived by one son, Robert Sulflow and his wife Gloria of Maynard, MN; three daughters: Betty O’Connor and her husband James of Benson, MN, Karen Johnson and her husband Alvern of Clarkfield, MN, and Kathleen Luepke and her husband Melvin of Bemidji, MN; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Fern Sulflow and Irene Sulflow of Clara City, MN and Jerry Sulflow of Montevideo, MN; one brother-in-law, Gilbert Seeman of Montevideo, MN; and many other friends and relatives.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ervin; one sister, Anne Prekker; two brothers: Bill and John Schroeder; and two grandsons.
