Greg Arends, of Montevideo, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 56.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 1:30 PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14 from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour before the services at the church.
Gregory Allen Arends was born on December 24, 1957 in Montevideo, MN to Arendt and Ruth (Nelson) Arends. He was baptized on April 4, 1958 and confirmed on April 27, 1975 , both at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1978. He worked at the Mohawk Café for three years, Chippewa Co. Weed Department for twenty-one years and farmed with his father and brother for a couple of years. He was a life-long member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo and was also a member of the Watson Fire Department for eleven years. He was currently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home. Greg had a great sense of humor and loved joking with others. He loved playing cards and being with family.
He is survived by a brother, David Arends and his wife Lynette of Montevideo; four sisters: Carol Paulson of Houston, TX, Barbara Holmgren and her husband Eugene of Dundee, MN, Sandy Maxwell and her husband Bill of Lakeville, MN and Kathy Isaacs and her husband Allan of Clarkfield, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dennis (Gloria) Arends; and a nephew, Scott Arends.
