Gudrun Wallace, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 91. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Watson Lutheran Church in Watson with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening, with the family from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 6:45 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Gudrun Evelyn (Kalmoe) Wallace was born on July 29, 1918 in Montevideo, MN to George W. and Elma (Anderson) Kalmoe. She was baptized on August 25, 1918 and confirmed on August 21, 1932 at the Watson Lutheran Church in Watson. She attended school and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1936. Following Her graduation she worked for Unger Furniture and Alvig Motor Sales in Montevideo. On March 9, 1947 she was united in marriage to Roger Wallace at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They lived and farmed on the Wallace farm northwest of Montevideo until 1958, when they moved into Watson. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Watson Elevator for twenty-five years before retiring in 1980. In retirement they enjoyed many winters in Yuma, AZ. She was a long-time member of Watson Lutheran Church, served as church treasurer for a number of years and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed needlework, crocheting and participated in league bowling. She will be remembered as a fierce competitor at cards and as a crossword puzzle enthusiast. She is survived by a son, Dale R. Wallace and his wife Sharon of Salt Lake City, UT; a daughter, Patricia Weckwerth and her husband Jim of Coon Rapids, MN; three grandchildren: Robyn Weckwerth, Wendy Weckwerth, and Darci Brinkerhoff; five great-grandchildren and many other friends, family and treasured caregivers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roger in 2004; a son, Donald Wallace in 1977; two grandsons: Steven Wallace in 2003 and Jay Weckwerth in 1985; two brothers: Leonard and Morris Kalmoe and a sister, Coyla Moe
