Gustav Nyheim died June 19, 1974 at the Dawson Nursing Home from cancer after having been in failing health for the past six years.

Gustav Adolph Nyheim was born October 3, 1898 at Homedal, Norway to Paul Ringstad and Georgina Olson.  He came to the United States at the age of 16 and after arriving, worked for one year for his uncle, Jacob Olson, to pay for his passage.  On June 16, 1924, he was united in marriage to Mildred Baxter at Montevideo.  They resided in Granite Falls and Wegdahl until 1971 when they moved to Parkview Towers in Montevideo.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; three children: Ordell Nyheim of Canton, OH, Darlene Black of Montevideo, MN and Paul Nyheim of Wegdahl, MN; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Solveig Krogenes and Ingaborg Skarstein of Homedal, Norway.
