Hagen Sederstrom

January 24, 1939 — November 5, 2010

Hagen Sederstrom, of rural Maynard, died on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 71. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Saron Lutheran Church with Rev. William Rosin officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 6:45 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Hagen Sederstom was born on January 24, 1939 to Harvard and Evelyn (Thorkelson) Sederstrom. He was baptized and confirmed at Saron Lutheran Church and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1957. He served in the U S Army. In 1960, he was united in marriage to Coni Tischer and to this union were born three children: Twyla, Tammy and Matthew. In June of 2000 he was united in marriage to Ellen Troska. He worked for the Minnesota Falls Elevator, Plews and at the Granite Falls Post Office for over twenty years, in addition to farming. He liked cattle and always had his hand in farming and agriculture. He was a member of Saron Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post in Granite Falls. He loved to travel south for the winter, dancing, music, playing cards, gambling, reading, playing bingo and bartering of all sorts. He drove for Prairie 5 and enjoyed activities at the Senior Center. He was known for his quick wit and liked to be around and visit with people. He is survived by his wife Ellen; three children: Twyla Sederstrom of Farmington, MN, Tammy (and Jim) Loose of Queen Creek, AZ and Matthew Sederstrom of Marshall, MN; a step-daughter, Shantel Troska of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren: Kjersti, Brittany, Samarah and Ethan; two great-grandchildren: Kade and Kolter; two sisters: Belva Tjosvold of Granite Falls, MN and Lynn Henderson of Holman, WI; a brother, Larry Sederstrom of Hinckley, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Elijah Paulson and a brother, Richard Bruce Sederstrom.
