Harlan Eddy, Montevideo died on Monday June 14, 2021 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 77.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 4:00 PM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Harlan David Eddy was born on September 25, 1943 to James and Evelyn Eddy. He grew up in Montevideo. During his teen years he started a band with his friends called the “7 Teens” and they played at the Montevideo Ballroom dance hall even opening for Buddy Holly. He graduated from Montevideo Senior High School. He joined the Navy and served his country for over 6 years. During that time he had advanced Navy training in many areas and also played in the Navy Band. Harlan worked in several careers and in many states over his life time. Before retirement he worked as a maintenance person at homes for disabled people in different areas of Minnesota.
Harlen had many hobbies but a few of his favorite were playing golf and fishing. Both hobbies led him to enter into tournaments as he enjoyed the competition of each sport.
Harlan is survived by his children: Wayne Eddy, Seattle, WA, Terrance Eddy, Seattle, WA, Brian Eddy, WI, Darrin (Melinda) Eddy, Clarkfield, MN; six grandchildren: Shane, Dusten, Jaylyn, Jaclyn and Angel; great-grandchildren: Fin, Tygen Rose, Brook, Blake; mother, Eveyln Eddy, Montevideo, MN; sisters: Sharon Schroeder, Montevideo, MN, Michelle (Bruce) Johnson, Montevideo, MN; daughter-in-law, Shannon Eddy, Montevideo, MN as well as numerous extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Eddy; son, Shawn Eddy; grandson, Ryan Eddy, great-granchild, Grason Eddy.
