Harlan Sandbakken, of rural Montevideo, died on Sunday, July 27, 2003 at his home at the age of 68.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 2, 2003 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Norman Aronson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Harlan Verdie Sandbakken was born on May 31, 1935 in Baxter Township of Lac Qui Parle County, MN to Obert and Edna Sandbakken. He was baptized in 1935 at his home and confirmed in 1949 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran of Baxter. He attended rural schools in District 8 and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1953. He served in the US Navy from January, 1956 through December of 1959. On October 8, 1977 he was united in marriage to Linda Gustafson at Our Saviour’s Lutheran of Baxter. He lived and farmed the home farm all of his life. He was a lifelong member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran of Baxter and served on the church council. He was a member of VFW Post #380 and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; four children: Daniel Sandbakken of Clark, SD, Heather Sandbakken of Montevideo, MN, Nathan Sanbakken of Montevideo, MN and Jason Sandbakken of Mankato, MN; one brother, Conrad Sandbakken of Montevideo, MN; one sister, Carolyn Nokleby and her husband Maurice of Alexandria, MN; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Obert in 1986 and Edna in 1979; and by a brother, Palmer in 1994.
