Harland Luverne Nelson was born on January 1, 1933 in Mandt Township, MN to Hilmer and Luella (Septon) Nelson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Mandt Lutheran Church and attended country school through the 8th grade.  Harland was united in marriage to Carolyn (Jacobson) on November 30, 1963.  He spent most of his time outside working on their farm north of Montevideo.  They moved to New Jersey in 1987 where they were caretakers of an estate, as well as onsite caretakers for the Lutheran Bretheren Church, and worked together in Harland’s handyman business. They then moved to Missouri in 1995 and Harland began working for Emerson Climate Technologies, LLC as a production worker and toolsetter.  He resided in Missouri until he moved into the Masonic Home in 2017.

Harland always loved spending time with his children whether it was hunting or fishing, helping them with 4-H projects, or going camping as a family. In later years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well.  When he was not busy outside, Harland could be found trying to watch the Vikings game on TV in Missouri.

He is survived by his three children: Ramona Nelson of Shakopee, MN, Paul Nelson of Phillipsburg, MO, and Rod (Zindra) Nelson of Mount Vernon, WA; twelve grandchildren: Ronnie Gunter, Jr., John, Kristina, and Walker Nelson, and Josiah, Jedediah, Jaden, Julia, Jevonna, Jeremiah, James, and Jane Nelson; five great-grandchildren; three siblings: Beverly Moen, Leone (Gerald) Struxness, Oma (Bob) Birgenheier; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Julie; sister, Donna Haugen; brother in infancy, Clifford Nelson; and brother-in-law, Everett Moen.

May his memory be blessed.
