Harlis Nordaune, of Watson, MN, died on Monday, February 10, 1997 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 60.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 13, 1997 at 10:30 AM at the Watson Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Our Saviours Lutheran Cemetery of Baxter.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening, with the family from 4 - 6 PM and with a prayer service at 5:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Harlis Allen Nordaune was born on March 18, 1936 in Montevideo, MN to Alvin and Jenny (Soma) Nordaune. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Oleson on Jan. 21, 1967 in Montevideo. He farmed in rural Montevideo for many years before moving to Watson in 1969. He was currently employed by the Water & Sewer Dept. of the City of Montevideo and was a Water & Sewer Consultant for the city of Watson. He was awarded first place in Region V and second place nationally for a "most improved plant" award by the Environmental Protection Agency in 1990 for his work with wastewater treatment. He was a member of Watson Lutheran Church and had been the church custodian for the past 10 years, was on the church council and was the Secretary/Treasurer of the Cemetery Board. He was a very active member of the Watson Lions Club and was the club Secretary/Treasurer and Zone Chairman for Dist. 5M4.
He is survived by his wife - Mary Ann; by 6 children - LuAnn (Harold) Eley and Cindy Polzin of Newport News, VA; Teri Polzin of Oak Park, IL; Bryon (Rosie) Polzin of Elmhurst, IL; Andrea Nordaune of Quincy, IL and Jennifer Nordaune of Toledo, OH; by 5 grandchildren - Loreal Riley; Philip Riley; Nicole Eley; Erin Eley; Justin Polzin; and by a brother - Curtis (Betty) Nordaune of Montevideo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by brothers - David and Marvin Nordaune.
