Harold Bohm

Harold Bohm, of rural Milan, died on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at his home at the age of 97. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Tom Opoien officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Harold Wilhelm Bohm was born March 1, 1912 at Stroud, MN the son of Frank and Caroline Bohm. He attended school in the St. James and Butterfield area and later attended Dunwoody Institute. He served in the US Army Air Corp during WW II in Africa and India. Harold was united in marriage with Amy Andrews July 10, 1938 at Watertown, SD. They lived at Maynard, Montevideo, and Milan. Harold farmed for many years before his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW and served on the Watson Farmers Elevator Board, the County Extension Committee, the Board of Deacons at Kviteseid Lutheran Church, and the Dist. 35 School Board. Harold enjoyed reading, gun smithing, fishing, traveling, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the beauty of flowers. He is survived by two daughters: Phyllis (and Jim) Hanson of Milan, MN and Judi Bohm of Milan, MN; four grandchildren: Jon (and Heidi) Hanson, Jennifer (and Cole) Mechtel, Christine (and Kevin) Sullivan, and Melissa (and Jeff) Jovaag; twelve great-grandchildren: Kjerstin Jovaag, Jamie Demo Hanson, Andrew Jovaag, Rachel Jovaag, Elizabeth Hanson, Elijah Mechtel, Dannika Mechtel, Isaac Hanson, Alexis Sullivan, Levi Mechtel, RyLeigh Sullivan, and Charlie Hanson; one brother, Frank Bohm, Jr. of Chula Vista, CA; and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Amy in 1991; three brothers and three sisters.
