Funeral service was at 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 6, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Kendall Stelter officiating; daughter, Debra Wood gave Family Reflections of Harold; granddaughter, Dr. Amanda Murray read Psalm 23 and grandson, Ben Larson read Ecclesiastes 3:1-7; vocalist and organist, Chris Lehne sang "You Raise Me Up" and "On Eagle's Wings" and accompanied the singing of "Lift High The Cross", "In the Garden", "It Is Well With My Soul" and "I'll Fly Away;" the great-grandchildren were honorary casketbearers and the grandchildren served as active casketbearers. Interment was in Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Harold R. Hudson was born on March 28, 1929, in Correll, MN, the son of Bernard and Elsie (Meyer) Hudson. He was baptized and in 1951, was confirmed at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church. He graduated from Appleton High School and for one year attended Dunwoody Institute for electronics. Harold and Dorothy Johnson were married on August 11, 1951, at the Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church. He worked for Orphe Hegre, drove school bus for Dawson, worked at Northwestern State Bank in Dawson, owned his own insurance agency and was the manager of the Lac Qui Parle Mutual Insurance Company of Dawson, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, softball, bowling, archery, bird watching, golf, and working outdoors. He had been a member of the Dawson Lions Club, Dawson area Chamber of Commerce and was active in church, serving on the church council and as an usher, and had been treasurer for the Trinity Lutheran Church. Because of his health, Harold entered the Johnson Memorial Home on August 15, 2007, and remained there until his death on Wednesday afternoon, June 3, 2009, at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 5 days. Harold is survived by his wife, Dorothy; 3 daughters; Debra (Ken) Wood of Vesper, WI, Rebecca Johnson of Rochester and Brenda (Dean) Larson of Corcoran; 7 grandchildren: Carrie (Greg) Jendro, Anna (Brad) Vollendorf, Dr. Amanda (Matt) Murray, Josie (Andrew) Cooper, Hannah (Dave) Pierson, Ben Larson and Hillary Larson; 4 great-grandchildren: Max, Nate and Luke Jendro and James Vollendorf; sister: Shirley Haines of Amery, WI; brother-in-law, Louis Bucci of Silver Springs, MD; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Marlin Hudson and sister, June Bucci.
