Harold Fredrick Wilhelm Meisner

Harold Meisner, of Montevideo, died on Monday, June 26, 2006 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 86.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 10:00 AM  at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. David Baumgarn officiating.  Interment was in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.

Harold Fredrick Wilhelm Meisner was born on March 23, 1920 in Wykoff, MN to William and Minnie (Gehrking) Meisner.  He was baptized on April 5, 1920 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wykoff, MN and confirmed at St. Paul Evengelical Lutheran Church in Bangor, WI.  He attended parochial school in Bangor, WI.  As a young man, he spent his summers doing farm work in the Canby, MN area.  On October 21, 1942 he was united in marriage to Ruth Wilking at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  They spent their entire married life together in Montevideo where they were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church.  He worked for Mork Electrical Construction and an electrical contractor in the Dakotas before starting with R.E.C.  He worked for R.E.C. for 32 1/2 years before retiring in 1983.  Harold enjoyed lawn mowing, snow removal and helping out his neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two children: James Meisner and his wife Donna of Montevideo and Terry Bents and her husband Kenneth of Clara City, MN; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two step-brothers: Edwin and Emil Niedfeldt of Bangor, WI; a sister-in-law, Hulda Meisner of Stewartville, MN, as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-father, Henry Niedfeldt; three brothers: George, and Ewald Meisner and Walter in infancy; three sisters: Alvina Schmidt, Pauline Schumacher and Ella Niemeyer; a step-brother and four step-sisters.
