Harold Pitt, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 80.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5:30 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Harold LeRoy Pitt was born on April 20, 1924 in St. Paul, MN to Arthur and Nettie (Coy) Pitt. He grew up in Montevideo and attended Montevideo Public Schools. He served in the US Army during World War II, serving in Europe. Harold was united in marriage with Delores Ronning August 13, 1944 at Santa Monica, CA. She died in June of 1960. On June 17, 1961 he was united in marriage to Alvina Christianson in Milbank, SD. He lived most of his lifetime in Montevideo. He owned and operated the Hiway Inn in Granite Falls for several years, drove truck for Arlin Curtiss and worked for Dunnick Brothers before retiring in 1989. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and tinkering with and rewinding motors.
He is survived by his wife Alvina; five children: Richard Pitt of Broken Arrow, OK, Barbara McGregor and her husband Mark of Savage, MN, Deb Koopman of Montevideo, MN, Diane Norton and her husband Joel of Montevideo, MN and Rodney Pitt of Willmar, MN; four grandchildren: Jason Koopman, Mark and Marie Norton and Alexis McGregor; and a sister, Lucille Anderson of Santa Monica, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Delores; one brother, Luverne Pitt; and one sister, Lorraine Kearns.
