Harold L. Wieber

Harold Wieber, of Willmar (formerly of Montevideo), died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 86.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Watson Lutheran Church.  Vicar Linda Estling will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 3-5:00 PM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service starting at 4:45 PM.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Harold Lawrence Wieber was born on June 23, 1930 in Deuel County, SD to Henry C. And Marie E. (Walter) Wieber.  He was baptized on August 17, 1930 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Altamont, SD and was later confirmed there on March 20, 1949.   Harold enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a Rocket Gunner in combat during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953.  He was awarded a Purple Heart for his efforts during that time.  On September 18, 1954, Harold married Delores Bang at the Watson Lutheran Church.  Together, they had one daughter, Karen.  They made their home in Watertown, SD for a time and then relocated back to Montevideo.

Harold was a very hard worker.  He put much effort into  his work and he was always happiest when he was working.  He was employed for 50 years and 43 of those years were with Ingmar and Roger Molde at Molde’s Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning. He enjoyed woodworking and helping friends and family with plumbing, heating, or air conditioning.  Harold took care of the Watson Lutheran Church and cemetery lawns for 11 years, and volunteered his services in repairs to the heating and cooling system at the church.  He was a member of the Watson Lutheran Church and served as church president, deacon, and usher.  He was a delegate to the SWMN Synod Assembly for 20 years.  He was also a member of the VFW Post 380 in Montevideo.  Harold loved to listen to country music and enjoyed watching Classic Country  and Gospel music programs on TV.

Harold is survived by his wife of 62 years, Delores; daughter, Karen (Keith) of Sioux Falls, SD; a grandson, Nathan of Sioux Falls, SD; a brother, Marvin (Marie) of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters-in-law: Mary Dahna and Betty and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Preceding Harold in death are his parents; parents-in-law, Andrew and Olga Bang; brothers: Louis Wieber and John Wieber; sisters and brothers-in-law: Lorraine (Raymond) Kravik and Helen (Tauno) Salo; and a nephew, Henry Salo in infancy.
