Harold “ Bud” Nordby, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, August 5, 1998 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 77.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 8, 1998 at 10:30 AM at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and with the family from 7 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Harold Eugene “Bud” Nordby was born on July 23, 1921 in Granite Falls, MN to Oscar J and Tilda (Flaten) Nordby. He was baptized at Granite Falls Lutheran Church on September 25, 1921 and attended rural schools. He worked on the Panama Canal in 1939 - 1940 before entering the US Navy and serving in the South Pacific. He served in the US Navy for 3 ½ years including involvement in the Atomic Bomb Testing on Eniwetok Island. On January 13, 1961 he was united in marriage to Florine Zempel. He worked on road construction for many years, working for Mooneys, Minnesota Valley and Peterson Construction before retiring in 1979. He lived most of his adult life in Montevideo and was a member of VFW Post #380.
He is survived by his wife, Florine; two sons: Dennis LaGrange of Hopkins, MN and Donald LaGrange of Spring Lake Park, MN; three grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; two sisters: Phyllis Saue and her husband George of Montevideo and Delores O’Connell and her husband Dan of Dilingham, AK; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children: Diane LaGrange and Steven LaGrange; and two brothers: Archie Nordby and Robert Nordby.
