Harris Blom, 72, of Montevideo and formerly of Watson, died April 29, 1996, at his home in Montevideo.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2, 1996, at 1:30 P.M. at Watson Lutheran Church. Rev. Robert Rendahl will officiate and interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before services on Thursday. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Harris Arnold Blom was born November 13, 1923 at Milan, MN the son of Alfred and Mathilda (Skogrand) Blom. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in 1938 and graduated from Milan High School in 1941. Harris was united in marriage with Patricia Moen March 7, 1948 at Mankato, MN. They farmed in Big Bend Township before moving to Watson when he bought the Watson Oil Company in 1963. He later sold the business to Farmers Union Oil Company and was the postmaster in Watson for 19 years before retiring in 1989. They moved to Montevideo in 1994. Harris was a member of the Lions Club, served on the Watson Lutheran Church Council, and is a retired member of the Watson Fire Department. He enjoyed his grandchildren, flowers, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; three children: Jon and his wife Gayle of Lakeville, MN, Sandra Van Otterloo and her husband Curtis of Battle Lake, MN, and Charles and his wife Debra of Montevideo, MN; seven grandchildren: Eric and Jill Blom; Keri Solseth, Christine and her husband Kyle Frigaard, and Katie Solseth; and Aaron and Alicia Blom; three great-grandchildren: Kevin Solseth, Kendra Solseth, and Theodore Frigaard; one brother, Reuben Blom of Montevideo, MN; and two sisters: Irene Gould of Mesa, AZ and Mavis Jorgenson and her husband Ira of Montevideo, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers: Arthur and Clifton Blom; two sisters: Pearl Tostenson and Esther Jorgenson; and one son-in-law, Malen Solseth.
