Harris Klefstad, formerly of Watson, MN, died on Thursday, August 17, 2000 at the Madison Hospital at the age of 96.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, August 19, 2000 at 10:30 AM at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. David Hall officiating. Burial was in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Harris Oliver Klefstad was born on October 10, 1903 in Chippewa Co., MN to Ole P. and Anna (Teigen) Klefstad. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. On April 12, 1929 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Torgerson in Watson, MN. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for 47 years before retiring in 1968. He lived most of his life in the Watson/Montevideo area with the exception of eight years in Bath, SD and Ortonville, MN. He has been a resident of the Madison Lutheran Home for the past two years. He was a member of Watson Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing and traveling.
He is survived by children - Gloria Haug of Manhattan Beach, CA; Lloyd Klefstad and his wife Mariette of Las Vegas, NV and Mary Ann Torgerson and her husband Paul of Coon Rapids, MN; seven grandchildren - Steven Winterkorn and his wife Lai Wah; Gregg Klefstad and his wife Trudy; Kristen Maus and her husband Sam; Aane Torgerson; Jaye Koenig and her husband Bruce; Melanie Torgerson; and Marabeth Williams and her husband Mark; two great grandchildren - Shauna Maus and Ah Shun Winterkorn; a brother - William Klefstad of Fergus Fall, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eleanor and by sisters - Alma Nordby; Olga Brinkman; Hilda Norby and Marian Erickson.
