Harry Docken, formerly of Maynard, died on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Clara City Care center at the age of 97. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Maynard Lutheran Church with Rev. Mary Leigh Boyd Hovland officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening and with the family present from 5-7:00 PM and a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Harry Docken was born on November 2, 1911 in Maynard, MN to Bernt and Melvina (Gjerde) Docken. He grew up in Maynard, MN and graduated from Maynard High School in 1930 and then attended Dunwoody Institute for a year. On November 23, 1932, he was united in marriage to Frances Marholz in Montevideo, MN. They lived in Maynard until moving to Clara City in 2001. He was a member of Maynard Lutheran Church and was a past member of the Maynard Fire Dept. Harry worked as a Blacksmith until 1961 then worked for Thorstad Construction until his retirement. He and his wife repaired and restored furniture for many years. His wife, Frances died January 17, 2006 and they had been married for 74 years. He is survived by five children: Gordon Docken and his wife Millie of Rosemount, MN, Douglas Docken and his wife Judy of Waconia, MN, Mary Jo Prekker and her husband David of Clara City, MN, Lyle Docken and his wife Linda of Maynard, MN and Mark Docken and his wife Jane of Willmar, MN; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances; an infant son, Dennis; a grandson, Glen Docken; and a great-granddaughter, Mallory Prekker. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to the Maynard Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
