Harry Johnson, 77, of Montevideo, passed from this life on Thursday, April 12th, at the Chippewa County  - Montevideo Hospital.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 14th from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home. The family will be present from 6:00-8:00 PM. Private family services will be held Easter Sunday afternoon with Pastor John Runyan officiating. Interment was at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Harry Nels Johnson, the son of Harry and Lydia (Hemmye) Johnson, was born February 13, 1924 in Omaha Nebraska. He grew up in Florence Heights graduating from North High School in 1942. On June 21, 1946 Harry married Margaret Palke in the Benson Baptist Church. Together they farmed in the Waterloo, NE area and later in Washington County, NE before moving to Chippewa County, Minnesota in 1958. Harry farmed Greenwood Farms north of Montevideo, MN until he retired in 1995.

After his retirement he continued to enjoy his hobbies of classical music, gardening, hunting, antique tractors and cars and his membership in the Minnesota Valley Antique Power Association in Montevideo and the Western Minnesota Steam Threshing Club of Rollag, MN.

Harry’s greatest joy came about in 1946 when at the age of 21, he accepted Jesus Christ into his heart as Lord and Savior. This personal relationship with the Son of God assured him of his eternal home in heaven. He was an active member of Temple Baptist Church in Omaha and later First Baptist Church of Granite Falls, MN.

Harry is survived by his wife, Margaret; five children: Tim Johnson and his wife Margaret of Willmar, MN, Dave Johnson and his wife Roxie of Mesa, AZ, Mark Johnson and his wife Cynthia of Montevideo, MN; Stephen Johnson of Montevideo, MN and John Runyan and his wife  Chris of Emmetsburg, IA; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother Irvin of Hebron, NE; one sister, Margaret (Howard) Hedrick of Omaha, NE; two sisters-in-law: Eleanor Johnson and Adalene Palke of Omaha; and one brother-in-law, Fred (Virginia) Palke of Clara City, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Prentiss of Omaha.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts will be used to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
