Harry Rodeberg, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, February 11, 1998 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 101.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 14, 1998 at 1:30 PM at Saron Lutheran Church with Rev, Steve Rheingans officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to services at the church.
Harry Milton Rodeberg was born on January 7, 1897 in rural Maynard, MN to Evan and Ingeborg (Havskalt) Rodeberg. He was baptized in February, 1897 and confirmed in 1912 at Saron Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. He was united in marriage to Mabel Wig in 1925. To this union, three children were born. Following Mabel’s death in 1956, he was united in marriage to Inez Groothuis on November 9, 1962. He farmed for several years and worked as a lineman for NSP for 45 years before retiring in 1962. While at NSP he did a lot of the wiring for western Minnesota. He was a lifelong member of Saron Lutheran Church and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He enjoyed woodworking as he built cabinets, tables, shelves and knick-knacks of all kinds, farming and working on jigsaw puzzles.
He is survived by his wife, Inez; three sons: Robert Rodeberg and his wife Harriet, Dick Rodeberg and his wife Carole, and Dean Rodeberg and his wife Marilyn, all of Montevideo, MN; three step-children: Dennis Groothuis and his wife Bev and Kent Groothuis and his wife Geri, both of Montevideo, MN and Darrell Groothuis and his wife Jeanine of California; 11 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mabel in 1956; a step-daughter, Beverly Aller; and 22 brothers and sisters.
