Hazel Alice Anderson

April 4, 1903 — August 15, 2001

Hazel Alice Anderson was born Saturday, April 4, 1903, in Chicago, Illinois, to Oscar and Nanny Marie (Jenson) Sundling.  Her mother died when she was ten months old, so she spent one year with her grandmother.  In 1905, her father remarried to Esther Johnson of Chicago.  In 1908, her father took her to Georgetown, Texas, to live with an uncle and aunt because of health problems with her eyes.  She went completely blind for a period of time, but with the climate conditions in Texas, her sight returned.  Her parents moved to Georgetown, Texas, in November, and in 1913, moved to Lyford, Texas.  She was baptized in 1918, and attended school through the eighth grade.
In September of 1939, Hazel started working at the Frank Russell Plantation in San Benito, Texas, where she was the children's nurse.  She was there until 1949, when she married Henry Anderson.  They moved to rural Dawson and lived on their little farm until April 14, 1973, when they moved into Dawson.  Henry died on October 20, 1981.  She later moved into Riverside Manor Apartments, where she lived for ten years before moving to Johnson Memorial Home, where she died on Wednesday morning, August 15, 2001, at the age of 98 years, 4 months, and 11 days.
She was a very active church member and took part in Bible study and LCW.
She is survived by her step-daughter, Vivian Sundin of Dawson; step-granddaughter, Sylvia Sundin of Charlottesville, Virginia;  sisters: Astrid (Bill) Manning and Frances (Fleet) Wilson, all of Fort Worth, TX; cousin, Roger Jenson of Minneapolis; nine nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry; sisters: Ethel Shoquist and Mildred Wade; and step son-in-law, Donald Sundin.
