Hazel Irene (Armstrong) Christians

Hazel Christians, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, March 27, 2005 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 94.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 2:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Dr. Mari Larson  officiating.  Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Hazel Irene (Armstrong) Christians was born on December 29, 1910  in Benson, MN to George and Emma (Narum) Armstrong.  She was baptized and confirmed at Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church ands attended rural school District 90. On November 28, 1933 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Christians in Montevideo.  They farmed in Grace Township for many years before moving into Montevideo in 1982. She worked at the Green Thumb Clothing Center in Montevideo for a number of years.  She was a member of Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church for many years and was currently a member of Salem Lutheran Church.  Hazel entered the Clara City Care Center in 1996 and in 1998 became a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home.

She is survived by children: Lloyd Christians and his wife Lorraine of Watertown, SD and  Marilyn Werner and her husband James of Spicer, MN; four grandchildren: Vicky Aschow and her husband Eric of Orange Vale, CA, Tammy Swanson and her husband Michael of Citrus Heights, CA, Scott Christians and his wife Deborah of Watertown, SD and Sheila Nepsund and her husband Dean of Willmar, MN; and seven great-grandchildren: Ethan, Edwin and Evan Aschow, Tanner and Tara Swanson, and Theresa Christians and Laurenza Nepsund.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill in 1998; a foster son, Rodney Christians; and by four brothers: Myron, Lowell, Harlan and Walter Armstrong.
