Hazel Haugen, 66, of Plymouth, MN died June 21, 2000 after an extended illness at the Hillcrest Care Center in Wayzata, MN at the age of 66.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 26, 2000 at 11:00 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN. Rev. Wayne Anderson and Rev. Jennifer Andreas officiated and interment was in Kviteseid Lutheran - Milan Methodist Cemetery.
Hazel Eleanor (Snelling) Haugen was born on April 4, 1934 in Milan, MN to Clifford and Hazel Snelling. Her mother died shortly after her birth and her father’s aunt and uncle, Argina and Eric Streed adopted her in August of 1934 and provided her with a home. She was baptized and confirmed at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN and attended Milan Public Schools, graduating from Milan High School in 1952. On August 7, 1955 she was united in marriage to Ralph Haugen at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Hazel was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Hopkins for the past 41 years. She was a loving Christian mother who rarely missed a Sunday in church except the last few months when her illness made it impossible to attend.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph of Plymouth, MN; two sons: Daniel of Minneapolis and David of Plymouth; her mother, Argina Streed of Milan; four brothers: Ernest (Arlene) Streed of Milan, MN; Ray (Fern) Streed of Milan, MN; Clifford (Sheryl) Snelling, Jr. of Yuba City, CA, Ernest (Sandy) Snelling of Tomah, WI; two sisters: Janet (Cecil) Schulze of Winston, OR and Charlotte (Ron) Castor of Morris, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.
